Skeleton Key

Wow … what a well-done – Southern swamp voodoo hoodoo horror story packed with ghosts, hoodoo, and Louisiana flavor. I want to go to New Orleans right now! It’s a tale of a caregiver nurse who wants to home care for an elderly gent out on a rickety haunted plantation in the middle of the swamps. She quickly finds herself surrounded by Hoodoo and spirits quickly adapting to taking on the arts herself but being given a surprise of her life. 5 stars out of 5 stars rating film. Must see!

http://www.tamaramovie.com/. Teenage geek girl falls for her teacher – he turns her down and it drives her crazy enough to do a love ritual to “make” him fall in love with her and to have the power of persuasion to make anyone do things for her. She chickens out when it calls for blood, but a high school prank from the jocks who want to get even with her accidentally kills her and spills her blood, making the spell complete. She returns from the dead to get revenge – but no longer an ugly duckling, but turn-everyone’s-head beautiful with a rage not to be toyed with. It’s B-rate, but I like the plot and the storyline. But definitely an at-home horror. Rating 4 stars out of 5. Viewed 1/2/07.

Spring Break Shark Attack (NR: 2005)

Spring Break Shark Attack
(NR: 2005)
Director: Paul Shapiro. Starring: Shannon Lucio; Riley Smith; and many others.

Ok, this is totally a “Jaws” meets “Spring Break” wanna-be flick, but it has some of its own entertaining points of value. Paul Shapiro brings a school of human-craving sharks into the hotspot of Spring Break activities. Of course, you have the innocent sheltered young teen (named Danielle) sneaking off to Florida for Spring Break fun with her friends. She of course falls for a good-natured local named Shane who runs the boat charter business for his mom. There of course is the jock who is unwanted and stoops to criminal degrees to get the girl he wants. Danielle’s older brother Charlie is a marine biologist investigating a new reef in the area – and the mess of them stumble into something quite sinister going on at the beach as swimmers start disappearing. Turns out a school of Tiger sharks has an appetite for the scantily-clad. It’s definitely a B-rate of its own accord, and not many Shark attack movies can compete with Jaws these days, but kudos to those that try. Rating 2.5 stars out of 5.

Severed: Forest of the Dead

(R: 2005)

Director: Carl Bessai. Starring: Paul Campbell … Tyler; Sarah Lind … Rita; Julian Christopher … Mac; JR Bourne … Carter; Michael Teigen … Luke; Leanne Adachi … Stacey; John Reardon … Greg; Patrick Gallagher … Anderson; Hrothgar Mathews … Eric; and others.
An interesting eco-zombie flick about a multi-national forestry company that is engaging in biological experiments with the trees in a very remote part of a Canadian forest in hopes of getting a better logging yield. Something bizarre goes wrong though, as the experimental biology takes hold in the loggers and a camp of environmental activists turning them into flesh-eating zombies. Its a fight for survival as several hole up in a fortress fighting off the zombies. Interesting plot and acting. I enjoyed it. Rating: 3 stars out of 5.
