The epic tale of a dad protecting his family from a home invasion, but to the whole disappointment of his kindred, he is afterall a “Nobody” who is incapable of the task. But in reality, he’s a super dangerous agent who gets triggered leading to a rage, pulling retired instincts and lethal skills from dormancy leading to an outright war. The Russian mob gets mixed into his rage, and they go at each other leading to mass destruction, death, and injury. He quickly changes his families views of being a “Nobody” in no time.

Great plot, choreography, and the film is laid out well with edge of your seat adventure. I enjoyed the flick.

Those Who Wish Me Dead (R: 2021)

Rated R: Released 2021
Suspense, Crime, Adventure
Runtime: 1 hour, 40 minutes
Starring: Angelina Jolie (Hannah); Jon Bernthal (Ethan); Nicholas Hoult (Patrick); Finn Little (Connor); Medina Senghore (Allison); Laura Niemi (Maggie); and more.

One of my favorite actresses – Angelina Jolie (next to Charlize Theron) plays in this epic crime-drama adventure of a accountant who discovers financial crimes triggering a mob to kill him off before he releases their secrets. As he seeks safety in the wilderness with family, the plan is foiled. The mob catches up with him and chases his son through the wilderness to wrap up loose ends. Only to discover the fire fighter Hannah on the edge of suicide, discovers the boy and comes to save him. They race from the flames to safety, and to catch the criminals in their tracks.

Its a brilliant plot and storyline, well made, and choreographed. A fan of Angelina Jolie, always impressed with her abilities. I watched this one on its release on HBO-MAX and was not disappointed. It would have however been more spectacular in the movies.

Runtime: 1 hour, 53 minutes
Starring: Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Bown, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza Gozalez, Kyle Chandler, Demian Bichir, and more.

Another great Titan film as the Titans world and mythology is explored even deeper with worlds within worlds. The famed adversaries fight to the death again as Godzilla vs Kong in an epic battle for the earthly throne. They however, realize they must team up against the humans who created their own robotic Titan set out to eradicate them. The world’s fate hangs in the balance. The humans help Kong find his inner earth home, led by a young girl named Jia who has become Kong’s best friend. They find the weapon of Kong’s power, and set off to save humanity.

Full of blockbuster special effects, CGI, and photo-realistic animation … the film does not disappoint. Heart felt and edge of the seat excitement, the adventure with Kong and Godzilla rooting out human evil is epic. Good plot, retelling of Titan mythos into a modern context. Very well done. I watched this on its release date during its simultaneous release on streaming services and limited theater openings. It came with my HBO-MAX subscription.

A Quiet Place: Part 2 (PG-13: 2021)

Rated PG-13: Released 2021
Run Time: 1 hour, 37 minutes
Suspense, Action, Horror, Science Fiction
Starring: Emily Blunt (Evelyn Abbott); Noah Jupe (Marcus Abbott); Brian Tyree Henry; Millicent Simmonds (Regan Abbott); Cillian Murphy (Emmett); John Krasinski; and many more.

Part two of the infamous science-fiction horror classic tale “A Quiet Place” when the earth is invaded by an alien species that hunts by sound. In order for humanity to survive, they must be absolutely silent. The slightest noise will send these creatures to rip humans to shreds. The tale continues to tell the story of a family of 5 trying to survive together … losing a son and husband in part one, and continuing on with the mother, baby, son, and daughter in part 2. The father from part 1 had discovered putting his daughter’s hearing aid to a microphone causes the creatures excruitiating pain … giving humans a vantage of being able to kill them while the creature is distracted. A island previously unaffected by the aliens, becomes infected. Juggling human emotions and the bravity of kindness, helping those in need to survive.

Well done, but not as good as the first movie. The plot runs thick and continues in like-fashion. Luckily I got to see this one in the theater, during the pandemic as the immunized populace in the United States has allowed theaters to re-open. While there were only a few people in the theater, and we had to remain masked for the whole film, the seemingly dying tradition of movie theaters is still alive.

I Still See You (PG-13: 2018)

Rated PG-13: Released 2018
Horror, Supernatural, Apocalypse, Science Fiction
Run-time: 1 hour, 38 minutes
Directed by Scott Speer, starring Bella Thorne, Dermot Mulroney, Richard Harmon, and more.

A haunting world after a cataclysmic event … a universe where the dead still remain as echoes and apparitions throughout the homes, streets, and fields for surviving humans to encounter. The world attempts to return to normal, but these apparitions haunt them – unable to affect their lives other than memories. However, one of the ghosts break the rules and try to kill Ronnie – a student who seems to be haunted the most.

Well designed and choreographed. Very interesting plot and much to ponder after watching. A great murder mystery in a supernatural context. I watched this one after looking up apocalyptic films on Amazon Prime. Luckily caught it 3 days before it will be removed from the service.

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (R: 2021)

Horror, Supernatural

Starring: Patrick Wilson (Ed Warren); Vera Farmiga (Lorraine Warren); Julian Hilliard (David Glatzel); Sarah Catherine Hook (Debbie Glatzel); Keith Arthur Bolden (Seargeant Clay); Ruairi O’Connor (Arne Cheyenne Johnson); and more.

Back into the Conjuring universe, following case files of Ed and Lorraine Warren – the frightening tale of a possession triggered by a witches’ totem, leading to a demon bouncing between victims. Based on the true story where the exorcists fight to save the soul of a young boy. The first time in U.S. history where a murder suspect claims demonic possession for their defense.

Well done and orchestrated, an inspirational tale for those obsessed with the supernatural. Another great creation over the mysteries investigated by Ed and Lorraine Warren.
