Sumas – Bellingham – Ferndale, Washington
Another day, another grind at the Techno Tink Headquarters in Sumas. Oisin awoke at 4 am to finish off his binge-watching of “the 100” finale, and worked on web development. He went back to sleep, and Cian awoke him at 7 am so that he could watch cartoons before e-school. Dad slept through the cartoons. They had cereal and orange juice for breakfast, then from 9 am – 11:15 am, Cian had his 2nd-grade zoom class while dad worked on client web development and technical support requests. Cian was goofing around on his chair, contrary to dad’s request not to, and fell – luckily nothing serious. The winds tamed down and Dad organized the warehouse. Cian explores a mysterious noise upstairs luring dad up to figure it out – Cian had hidden his Nightmare before Xmas Mayor doll who was making his eerie dance. Cian and dad had macaroni and cheese for lunch. Dad got a special photo from Elka depicting the tree that Oisin and Etain had planted atop her umbilical cord on the land they once were going to purchase together (Vegantopia – now Elka’s land). It was so golden and beautiful.

growing from where his umbilical cord was planted.
Cian had his 1:15-2:20 RLC class, then a 3:00-3:30 PE Zoom class. Dad continued working on the warehouse, web development, vlogging, blogging, and organizing. Dad worked on accounting and paid some bills, still impressed how cheap electricity was in Sumas. So pleased he was. He put the Halloween decorations back out now that the winds ended. After school, the duo rushed out, and 20 minutes into the drive to Bellingham, discovered he forgot his phone. They had to turn back around for a 40-minute roundtrip to get it back in Sumas. Dad is so scatterbrained these days.
They did their 4:30-6:30 pm Grubhub shift. While on the route, they were able to do some errands and hit Grocery Outlet in Ferndale, Deals only in Bellingham, and Cian continued goofing off – this time firing off his pop ball gun in the car that he got at Grocery Outlet, much to dad’s disapproval. Dad caught up on NPR News and New York Times updates. They had a chance to hit Starbucks, in bliss with the Mocha Cookie Creme Frappuccino that Dad had free points for, and Cian had a chocolate croissant. On the way home, they played Cian’s road trip Ding Dong game, then had an air-pop ball gun battle with Nightmare before Xmas’ dancing mayor toy. Dad worked on the warehouse, troubleshooter client issues with Woocommerce Marketplace – specifically multi-carrier shipping issues on split orders. They were in bed by 9:30 pm, after Cian fell asleep, dad caught up on Batwoman and the most recent Walking Dead.
In the news, word has it that Barrett won’t endorse a peaceful transfer of power, Senate races were in the highlights, and Apple introduced a new iPhone. There were many debates and predictions that if Biden wins the election next month, how would his presidency turn out, and if/when Trump would give up power. There was nothing peaceful in expectations or forecast. Biden will have limited ability to pass legislation if Republicans keep control of the Senate as one scenario, the other if Democrats retake the Senate, then Biden could enact an ambitious agenda including raising taxes on the rich, expanding health insurance, improving voting rights, and enact universal preschool-kindergarten. Since the Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to end the census count early, this would lead to undercounting undocumented immigrants and benefit Republicans in drawing of political districts. Again Trump continues to evade the release of his tax records.
The pandemic is trodden onward, with Eli Lilly pausing its clinical trials for antibody treatment because of a “potential safety concern. A man in Nevada contracts the Coronavirus twice and is only 25 years old – so much for the under 50 crowds is immune. More focus on the protests in Portland, as investigations begin on the man who was shot by U.S. Marshalls who was responsible for killing a right-wing protestor in Portland. The results did not match the official account according to the Times.
