Arvada, Colorado

Oisin awoke to a yard full of snow as it had snowed pretty heavy last night in Arvada. Up early, Oisin dove into web development, client work, and getting things organized. He had a full day of web design scheduled for him. There were some client meetings potentially on the calendar set for real-time person-to-person.

When he went outside to use his clicker to unlock the car, it started having issues. Must be the battery he thought. He spent most of the morning troubleshooting a wholesale product catalog and user registration/loss of passwords. For some reason, certain members were only seeing $0.00 for items instead of the wholesale price. Oisin worked down in the basement office, hanging out with Allison and Brandon, getting some quiet as the kids had therapists upstairs and doing e-learning. The snow was gone by afternoon. Oisin was housebound the whole day. Brandon’s spaghetti is what the crew had for dinner. Oisin and Allison watched “A Discovery of Witches” for several episodes, then after parted for sleep, Oisin stayed up later to work late night web development. In the News, it was released that the Pfizer and Moderna first doses are now 80% effective in real-life studies vs. the trials. That gave Oisin some security especially since his 2nd shot will be delayed anywhere between 2 weeks and a month in the stated time you should get the 2nd dose.

In other news, according to NPR and the New York Times, they finally freed the ship blocking up the Suez Canal, but disruptions still continue. Traffic pileups on both ends of the canal had to be maneuvered carefully to avoid more blockage. There was a loss of $95 million in revenue to Egypt. This has also caused a global disruption of goods and supplies needed around the world.

The Covid-19 pandemic continues on. While the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, even with the first dose, are highly effective, upwards of 80%, and 90% after 2nd dose, herd immunity is far from reachable. Vaccines in Texas and five other states are available to anyone 16 years or older. President Biden continued to urge everyone to keep or reinstate mask mandates, as a fourth wave was on the horizon. The World Health Organization and China began delving deeper into the origins of how the pandemic started, and Beijing was hesitant to allow outside investigators into the region.

Yesterday was the beginning of the Derek Chauvin case, the Minneapolis police officer who killed George Floyd. Protests were ready to go. Anti-Asian hate crimes are continuing on the rise, a man attacked a 65-year-old woman on a Manhattan sidewalk yesterday. It was also determined that Chinese restaurants suffered more than any other dining establishment during the pandemic. Some believe this is attributed to the origin of the pandemic coming from China. This has affected tourism in China Town as well throughout major cities that have them.
