Wyoming to Washington State
01.03.21 Oisin and Cian awake snuggled under their electric blanket and sleeping bags as traveling western non-stop across the country to the Techno Tink Headquarters (TTHQ). However, it would have been quite a comfortable sleep if the Car air mattress hadn’t leaked, Oisin pondered. The duo agreed – they just wanted to get to their Pacific Northwest home. With Oisin having work looming ahead in the week, King Cian had e-school pending Monday. Pressing on to get back to an inside space with reliable internet so that Cian can do E-school without interruption on Monday. They skipped their usual pit-stop at Hobo Hot Springs.
Breakfast and Gas
As they crossed through Evanston, Wyoming it was a bit wind-swept with blowing snow to stop at the rest area for breakfast. Therefore, they decided to do a drive-thru. It was a long line for breakfast at a Burger King. But the warm meal was well worth it. If they had stopped at a rest area – it would have been and cold as well as a delay for their journey. As a result, a Sunday drive was had from Wyoming into Utah via snowstorms and blowing snow. Therefore, their plan for the day was to drive straight through Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington State. They were pleasantly pleased to find gas was down to $1.84 a gallon – the lowest they found outside of Evanston. From there the gas just kept increasing substantially.
NPR, World Events, and the Pandemic
The car was filled with NPR updates and status news on the pandemic. As a result, Oisin reflected on the state of affairs, politics, and pandemic news. Unfortunately, there were more pandemic troubles in Ireland according to his ex via news from the family. Most importantly, Oisin couldn’t get over how many plots and conspiracies ran rampant in the news from the Q phenomena to New World Orders. The news about the stimulus checks, whether or not Americans will get the additional $1400 was atop many minds, including Oisin’s. Today was the Georgia elections over seats and congress. Today was the end of the 116th Congress and the start of the 117th. More news about Russians hacking U.S. government computers.
Many delays still continuing with the U.S. Mail service. The focus was being sighted on the lag and inefficiency of the immunization campaigns for Covid-19. King Cian is sad from the news by his mom that his Christmas gifts haven’t arrived yet.
Vaccinations and Covid abroad
As the duo took on 01.03.21 with their western non-stop journey, the car was filled with NPR news. The Pandemic flurries onward and the vaccination campaign moves slowly in America as well as the rest of the world. News from across the Great Pond doesn’t seem positive in the world of Covid. New vaccine protocols in Britain and the ex reported bad news with her family and Covid.
In the pandemic world, not only is there a lag in the vaccination campaign, but researchers are still perplexed as to why some coronavirus patients lose the sense of taste and smell as well as the permanence of the losses. The Thanksgiving gathering surges affect California’s numbers, creating some of the worst numbers in Los Angeles county. Britain changed their vaccination procedures to allow for mix and match regimens – so that if a second dose a patient originally received isn’t available, or the first shot manufacturer isn’t known, another coronavirus vaccine may be substituted. In the U.S. regulators state the vaccines are not interchangeable. Biden is pushing for just vaccinating as many as they can and not stockpiling second doses for the 2nd shot that must be done weeks later after the first.
Trump and Politics
Political panderings continued in the news with Trump refusing to concede and calling the election results crooked and rigged. A Democratic plot seems to be the conspiracy in the land of Trump. More news of president-elect Joe Biden’s agenda – with 2,000 dollar stimulus checks back on the table, Georgia elections for the twin Senate runoffs. In order for the Democrats to have control, Rev. Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff need to defeat the Republican incumbents Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue.
Republicans appeared worrisome about a strong turnout in the Democratic arena, and tried to translate mixed messages about Trump stating the Senate races “illegal and invalid”. It’ll be just Wednesday that Congress will officially vote and accept the Electoral College results and verify 100% president-elect Joe Biden. However, there were 12 Republicans including Senators Cruz, Hawley, and Blackburn seeking to overturn votes for Biden and defying the results of the American fair and free election process. Vice President Mike Pence signaled his support, albeit pressure from Trump and Republicans with some fantasy he has the right to overturn the election results as Vice President.
End of the 116th Congress
It is the marking of the end of the 116th Congress – very divided and gridlocked. As the 117th Congress is sworn in today – very much affected by populism and the pandemic, affecting the politics of debt. Unfortunately, vandals attacked the homes of Mitch McConnell the Senate majority leader, and House majority leader Nancy Pelosi.
Russian Hacking
The news comes over the wire that troublesome hacking by Russian agents lately has somehow overcome U.S. defense. It is unknown what the Russians pulled off – minimally breaching over 250 federal agencies and businesses. Some believe they are creating a cyber-arsenal for leverage against President-elect Joe Biden for the nuclear arms talks.
Back in Washington State
This 01.03.21 Western non-stop journey was essentially driving straight through Utah, Idaho, and Oregon without stopping off at a hot spring on the way. Sometimes, one just needs those rest stops. They made it across the Cascades without incident, barely escaping an incoming snowstorm that could have created havoc. They beat it by an hour and crossed over Snoqualmie pass just as it was starting to snow. The duo grabs gas in Marysville to fill up their last tank of the journey.
They get to TTHQ at 2 am, exhausted, and were ready for sleep. They experienced the snow turning to rain as they entered Washington State. Therefore, the rains of Washington leak through the inflatable rooftop carrier into the car drenching Oisin’s shoulder. As soon as they unpacked the perishables from the trip, they were off to bed.
