Sumas – Bellingham – Northgate, Washington

Oisin had a restless sleep, lots on his mind, and trouble sleeping. He was up by 3 am – too lethargic to do anything productive, he watched Youtube videos on his phone while Cian slept, TikTok, and then attempted to watch a movie called “Lockdown” on Netflix, but passed out. He was back up by 8 am, as Cian wanted to play a game of Minecraft Dungeons before school. Breakfast of Fruity Pebbles and Orange Juice, the duo got into their routine. Cian did his latte start Friday 2nd grade class from 10 am – 11:30 am, then RLC, and finally PE from 3-3:30 pm. While Cian was doing remote learning, Dad worked on client projects, accounting, and web development. Cian packed up for his 3-day weekend with mom, and they headed into Bellingham for their Grubhub shift. They pit stopped for a Little Caesar’s Pepperoni Pizza for dinner, grabbed a Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappucino for energy than did their 3-hour shift. It was good. $98 for three hours pre-expenses. Dad was disgusted with Hana Terriyaki as the wait time for orders was phenomenally long, in a crowded waiting room, no ventilation, and smoky. The owner didn’t call orders that were ready so people had to keep asking. They hung outside for the wait. So many anti-maskers, anti-vaxxers, road rage, and pandemic discomfort around. No wonder Whatcom County is the state’s hotspot of infections.

They made it to Cian’s mom’s house in an hour and a half. She gave dad some excess groceries she had from the pantry she didn’t want, and then Dad made his u-turn return trip back to Sumas. It took 2 hours. He filled up for gas at Safeway, got another Mocha Cookie Crumble, and once home ate his stew he had brewing in the crockpot. He wasn’t impressed. He was exhausted so settled into watching “Wandavision” on Disney, calling it an evening.

In the News: Biden announced his game plan for defeating the virus and fixing the economy. This tactical plan was the highlight of the news via NPR and New York Times. He announced a $1.9 trillion dollar economic plan and plans to begin his presidency with a huge stimulus plan, focusing on health care, climate change, the pandemic, and immunizations. Secret service set up a “green zone” downtown Washington this weekend shutting down traffic and train lines with troops stationed for Biden’s inauguration. In Virus news – deaths are skyrocketing in the United States with nearly 400,000 losses. Large surges from Arizona and California. Over 28 states have started vaccinating the elderly. Britain banned arrivals from Latin America, Portugal, etc. in fears of the Brazilian variant. Hospitals are to the brink in the United Kingdom. More infections are prophesized for children unless schools shore up precautions. Siegfried Fischbacher of the Siegfried & Roy magician team died at 81, eight months after the loss of Roy Horn.
