02.15.20: Pizza, Deliveries

Ferndale – Bellingham – Fairhaven, Washington

Oisin and Cian take it easy during the day getting a chance to sleep in a bit before heading into town to do deliveries. Dad began the morning doing web development and vlogging while Cian played with his fortnite figurines. They then prepared for their day off unto the Four Corners of Northern Washington.

They drive into Ferndale, then do deliveries in Ferndale, Bellingham, Whatcom, and Fairhaven (The Four Corners). “The Gods are sad” says Cian is why its raining today. In between assignments, the duo head off for their weekly shopping at Trader Joe’s, Grocery Outlet, and “Deals Only”. Oisin is loving it that his town has a bargain market like the one he had back in Colorado. Cian discovers Pirate Pinatas that he really wants for his birthday.

There was some down time inbetween assignments, so the delvers get a break going to Boulevard Park and get to hang on the beach. Oisin gets frustrated again by some of the customers as he gets two freeloading non-tippers in a row. It has been relatively absent as of late in Bellingham, but the students … oh the students … feel entitled to have people deliver them food without paying the cost probably using free delivery deals or couples and skipping out on tipping the couriers. In those cases, these losers should go get the food themselves. But its the industry as well, the companies are shortchanging the drivers just like restaurants do the wait staff paying them sub-par wages for work they should get at least minimum wage for. Only difference is the delivery driver not only is at a loss with time, but wear/tear of their car, gas and maintenance expenses, and the risk of accidents or injury during the drives. Oisin is having soda addiction problems again – partly due to the energy crashes he’s been having, but now that he’s finding it at “Deals Only” for 25 cents a pop, it not being expensive anymore is no longer a deterrent. Not knowing what to do, he gets concerned. Needing energy is the key with this life he lives. Cian discovers really cheap (2 for a $1) Kinder Eggs at Deals Only as well – buying an armful for the Star Wars figures inside and the hazelnut chocolate treat … using his shares of delivery funds to indulge as well. For dinner they pull into a Little Caesar’s to go grabbing a Pepperoni Pizza. Cian was ecstatic. They had a call with Mom while enrout for a break at the Night globe in Bellingham Bay to take pics of the light irridescence on the metal, and then back to the wilderness home to play, watch some Locke and Key, and call it a night.
