Sumas – Bellingham, Washington

It was a crazy day for the duo. Dad was disturbed by the news about the invasion of the U.S. capital building in Washington D.C. for Trumpsters not accepting the election/voting process. They broke down the doors of the capital, and apparently 4 deaths. President Trump egged them on to be violent. Impeachment back into the discussion and the news. The next two weeks will be quite crazy. Dad made Duck eggs/avocado/ spinach/ and cheese omelets with bacon for breakfast. Cian was still hungry and wanted butter and jam toast, dad had avocado on toast. Orange juice to wash it all down.

Cian started his 2nd-grade e-school schedule of 9 am – 11:15 am for his 2nd-grade main class, then 11:15 am – 11:30 am speech and 12-1230 pm Lunch bunch. he was able to catch up with classmates over lunch on zoom. Then his RLC class from 1:15 pm – 2:20 pm, and the final chorus from 3 pm – 3:30 pm. While Cian did e-school, dad unpacked boxes from storage, set up the warehouse, inventory and processing herbs, archives, and management. His goal was to make the warehouse presentable to customers and shoppers.

For the media business, everything was completely radio-silent, as is usual during early January. Clients are still recovering from holidays and vacation mode, many not even back in business yet. In the gig work spectrum, after school Cian and his dad headed off to Bellingham for their 4:30 pm – 8 pm Grubhub shift. It was productive, averaging $25-$28/hour. Most of the deliveries were Thai food. During the shift, they hit Starbucks, had Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappucinos for energy spikes, and a Little Caesar’s pepperoni pizza for dinner. Otherwise, the night was uneventful. Dad caught up with calls to his best friends and colleagues. On the drive home, Cian wanted to play his role-playing “ding dong doorbell” game, which he didn’t want to discuss on the blog/vlog as it was a “top secret” adventure this evening. They played some Minecraft dungeons after some technical difficulties with the software and sound. It has been screwing up lately on the PC version. After Cian went to sleep, dad watched “Three”. That was the night. Good night Sumas.

Supporters of President Trump stormed the Capitol yesterday.Win Mcnamee/Getty Images

In the news: The Trump mob stormed the Capitol threatening members of congress who had to flee for safety while voting to confirm the new President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. Donald Trump eagerly watched and egged them on, defiant to requests from his staff to stop them or persuade them to return home. He consistently stood lying about voter fraud, diminishing the public’s confidence in the election process. The crowds fought their way through armed police officers, smashing windows, causing destruction, and spent several hours in the building vandalizing offices and making threats. They injured 14 officers and there were 4 related deaths. At 3:45 am Congress confirmed Biden’s victory even though delayed by Trump’s shenanigans. In two weeks, the new President will take office.

The federal government also introduced a program to administer COVID vaccines to high-risk groups, including front line workers and the elderly. In Pakistan, a court abolished “virginity tests” for women in sexual assault cases calling it a humiliating and unethical practice.
