Sumas – Bellingham, Washington
The duo was up by 8 am, dad exhausted … Cian pleaded for a game of Minecraft Dungeons before school. They had a short game, dad had Granola and Orange Juice for breakfast, Cian had Captain Crunch. They logged into Cian’s 2nd-grade e-class from 9 am until 11:15 am. While Cian was doing class, dad unpacked some of the boxes from the last run to Colorado. All of his belongings were finally in one building, in one state, in one place. It has been over 20 years since he’s experienced life without storage or belongings spread across the U.S. and even the globe.
He unpacked some IKEA shelves a Colorado client of his had tossed out and he had stored for over a year. Turned out to be a nice shelving unit with glass shelves, perfect for some of Oisin’s fairy figurines he sells. It was missing parts, but he made due. They made Chicken strips for lunch and another game of Minecraft over lunch. Cian kept throwing TNT bombs at dad during the play, Dad just wanted to play together as a team. Cian had his RLC class from 1:15-2:20 pm and drew a nice picture of a snake. From 3 -3:30 pm, Cian did his Physical Education class. Dad caught up with a neighbor, got some laundry done, and more organization of the warehouse. Right after class, they raced into Bellingham to do a Grubhub shift. Was okay, not very prosperous … averaging $17/hour before gas and expenses. They hit their post office box, got some laundry done, and dad disturbed by the news and world events. Pandemic, riots, verge of a civil war? They pit stopped at Grocery Outlet after their 4-7:30 pm shift, grabbing groceries for the week and Cian used some of his delivery earnings to buy a nerf gun. Back in Sumas at a decent hour, they had a beef stew dad brewed up in the crockpot for dinner. Cian wasn’t impressed. After another hour of Minecraft dungeons before bed, and some reading, Cian had his shower and they were off to sleep. While Cian slept, dad watched “Harriet” (the story of Harriet Tubman) and passed out. Cian had lost a tooth earlier in the day, so the tooth fairy visited a bit and hung out with dad.

Proud Boys and other groups traveled to the capital to protest in support of Trump. Prosecutors are not charging the police officer who shot Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin last year – an event that paralyzed Blake. This led to more widespread protests.
