Sumas, Washington
Early to rise, Oisin and Cian made breakfast and got ready for the sale day. Dad created some signs, laminated them, and they drove around the neighborhood affixing them to signposts. Back at Techno Tink Headquarters, they put out the clothing racks and costume displays – hoping for attendees to come shop. A few people came by, but not many. The neighbor Brian bought the male mannequin. A few other costumes for upcoming Halloween activities. They made enough sales to make it successful for the day.
They received word that the car they had lent CIan’s mom was dead and needed a jump start. It took her a while to get one, but once jumped was on her way up as she was picking Cian up for Saturday night and most of Sunday day. She arrived just as Oisin was closing up shop, was able to shop around a little herself, and got a couple of items. She brought taco fixings and roast chicken so all could have dinner together. Cian insisted on a walk together as a family, so they took “Cian’s trail” a small wetlands path down the street that loops around to main street. He played zombie hunter. He also wanted spooky stories so dad told him a werewolf tale while he eerily spied out bushes they were passing expecting one to jump out.
As they passed the Edaleen Dairy, they stopped for dessert and grabbed ice cream. They passed the Sumas food bank pantry and grabbed a couple of items on the table left out. Then back to headquarters, Cian and his mom departed, heading south to Renton. Dad rested and recovered, did some web development, and cleaned up the warehouse preparing for tomorrow’s day 2 of the sale after which he would have a long 5-hour round-trip to pick Cian back up and get him ready for e-school.
