Grand Lake, Colorado

Oisin and Cian had a good night catching up with extended family. This was the first gathering they attended with others since the Pandemic began in March, so it was a curious and cautious experience. Cindy had a big breakfast buffet awaiting everyone in the morning, Oisin and Cian had their fill. Cian was in his glory, the first kids he has been able to play with indoors since the Pandemic began as well. Cian was always good with his mask, even though it was not needed in the spacious cabin that flowed inside and outside. Oisin took advantage of the hot tub outside, though no one joined him. It was a much needed water submersion for this part-Merman.

Late morning the families piled into their vehicles and drove off to Rocky Mountain National Park (which borders the cabin property) to hike up to “Adams Falls“. They all hiked up to the waterfalls, explored the trails, woods, and rivers. There was some haze from the wildfires on the horizon.

After hiking, everyone met downtown Grand Lake to dine out on the patio at Squeaky B’s. Oisin had a buffalo burger and fries. Cian had a corn dog and fries. The extended family and friends socialized while the kids played putt-putt golf at the abandoned course next door, with putters and balls given out by Squeaky B’s. Afterward, Allison and Brandon went birthday gift shopping while Levi showed Oisin and Cian their new plot of land and the progress of mapping out where the cabin would be built. They drove by an A-frame construction to give an idea of the home kit they were going to build.

That evening, everyone relaxed and socialized at the cabin. Oisin of course spent a good amount of time in the hot tub. The kids played around in the hammock out back, wrapping themselves in it like a fish caught in a net. A restful evening was had. Much needed through this pandemic.
