03.28.21: Hanging out, Dark Lots

Up by 9:30 am, Oisin made a wild mushroom / egg / ham and cheese bagel for breakfast – hanging out with Allison, Brandon, and the kids – catching up. Brandon made some very yummy coconut-based waffles and bacon which Oisin enjoyed as a 2nd breakfast. Hobbit time! Its been a long time since the crew hung out as Oisin has been spending much time in Washington state. For a late lunch/early dinner Oisin made Impossible burgers but no one else wanted the vegan delight. A day of downtime was had.

Early evening, Oisin and Allison got their goth on – dressing up for a first club night out for ages … and getting to try out “Dark Lots” finally after a year in operation. Its been running for a year during the pandemic and after many attempts, the duo finally could make it on its anniversary. The local gothic scene taking over a Barnes and Nobles parking lot, corded off with live DJs and dancing, masked, under the moonlight, socially distanced – perfect for the pandemic. Oisin wished there were more events like this around the globe.

Oisin and Allison headed out to “Dark Lots”, found the site, and hunted for a Starbucks for a caffeine boost enroute … unfortunately due to the pandemic … all close too early. After pulling into the parking lot, Oisin’s drink was propped up against the car door – fell out with a clatter and spilled on the concrete. Sucked … what an entrance Oisin and Allison thought. There were however no porta-potties, so it was either an alleyway, bushes, or finding something nearby still open. They hunted down the 7-11 down the street, but they didn’t let patrons use their restroom. They stopped in Pizza hut just before they closed and was able to use theirs. They made their way back to the lot … saw friends they hadn’t seen for ages and danced up a storm. Great spinning and sets. Their friend Kira had her table of goodies set up with gluten-free skull chocolate muffins which were delicious!

They called it a night a little after 1 am and drove home. What an awesome one year anniversary … thank you Dark Lots!!! They pit stopped at Jack in the Box on the way home for some grub and called it a night!
