Sumas – Bellingham, Washington
The world affairs are riding heavy on Oisin giving him restless sleep. On top of that, high winds swirling around the building moving, shaking, and knocking things over left a light sleep. The winds continued into the morning. Oisin and Cian overslept but had enough time to make some Fruity Pebbles cereal and orange juice for breakfast. They quickly got ready for Cian’s 9 am- 11:15 am 2nd-grade main class. Dad is over-exhausted, having breathing issues, and a bout of asthma. Probably all the dust and stuff the winds were spurring. While Cian was in his e-school class, dad worked on the warehouse, vlogs, blogs, bookkeeping, and client work.
The duo broke for lunch, making corn dogs, apple slices, bananas, and toast to satiate their hunger. (Dad had avocado and butter on his toast, Cian jelly, and butter) Cian mouthed off to dad, so dad restricted him from his phone as punishment, so Cian tried game playing on his kindle instead of in rebellion. Cian finished his 1:15 pm – 2:30 pm RLC class and then had a very short PE class from 3 pm – 3:15 pm (instead of 3:30 as the teacher was having technical issues). Lots of internet losses from downed power poles due to the winds throughout western Washington.
After school, the duo headed into Bellingham to do a 4 pm – 7:30 pm Grubhub shift, averaging low at $16.50/hour before costs subtracted. Not good. Tips weren’t well. Road rage was abundant. the Day was however beautiful, sunny, with clear skies. They pit stopped at Starbucks as they had some freebies with their points – so dad had his usual Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino, and Cian a hot chocolate and chocolate croissant. On the way home, Cian played his Ding Dong Doorbell Roleplaying game during the drive home with dad. They got home around 8:30 pm, dad made Coconut shrimp and Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner. They settled into a game of Minecraft Dungeons, but it was interrupted as the joystick had issues. They watched the Trump incited Capitol insurrection done by CNN on HBO Max. Cian had many questions and they discussed them. Cian drew a picture of the violence and protests. After Cian went to sleep, Dad was too exhausted to do anything else – passing out to some assassin movie on Netflix he couldn’t even remember the name of. Total physical drain.

In the News: The world affairs’ disturbing dad, more news about Trump, his impending impeachment, the aftermath of the Capital riots and violence. Whatcom County is extremely high with virus counts – worst hotspot in the entire Washington state at moment. The pandemic situation is not good throughout the world with new variants breaking out – variants emerging from Britain, South Africa, and Brazil that are much more infectious than the Italian strain, cases spiking. Progress with vaccinations is slower than projected as the Trump administration had promised 20 million Americans would be vaccinated by January 1st, instead of less than 3 million had completed their first shot. Today there are less than 9 million. The virus is spreading so rapidly, hospitals can’t keep up with bed space. Over 130,000 Americans are currently hospitalized with COVID, double that from two months ago. Hospitals are running low and out of oxygen for respirators. The Houe approved a resolution for Vice President Mike Pence and the cabinet to remove Trump from office, though Pence said he wouldn’t. House will probably vote on impeachment today.
