Life in Ashlandia: Chronicle 7

The weary merchants awoke in their cramped RV, crawling out of bed by 7:30 am, quick breakfast, and then a drive around the streets of Ashlandia in search of deals at garage sales. Sir Thomas remarked that Ashland was the best place for garage sales in his life within the Americas, always neat and intriguing finds. They found treasures soon to be offered in their shop “The Leaf and Dragon“. They also discovered a cache of hand puppets for the young Prince to play with. The skies were ominous and creepy with the wildfires affecting the cloud patterns with smoke.
Onwards they went to open their shop downtown, and there were two people waiting for them to open. They turned out to be window browsers. Vacuuming the floors, washing the windows, picking up stray merchandise and putting in their proper places – Quickbooks POS up and running, security systems off, they were ready for business.
Sir Thomas and the Prince ran around the corner to grab them all Starbucks Chai Creme Frappacinos and breakfast snacks while Lady Etain watched the front. They all convened and had 2nd breakfast. There was a little bit of traffic in during the day and some sales. Sir Thomas was content. Lady Etain went for her daily walk. Sir Thomas manned the stations. They ordered pizza for lunch and had a quiet day. Quite a few onlookers for Viking stuff from Rob’s part of the store.
Come evening, the merchants closed down the shop and had to deal with some homeless trying to set up a camp in front of their store. It was unnerving. He convinced them to move down the sidewalk as not to block customers from coming into the store. Another homeless guy had set up a camp in the bushes around the corner. The merchants drove home to their RV camper for another night’s rest for the weary. They fired up the roadster grill and made burgers for a very late dinner. They were sleepy and called it a night. Lulling themselves to sleep to an episode of “The Walking Dead”.
