The Dalles – Hood River, Oregon; White Salmon, Washington
The adventurers were up rather early and awoke from their campsite. They got back on the road and headed home to the Gorge. As they crossed the bridge at Maryhill and was headed to the Dalles, with Lady Etain driving, somehow a policeman noticed the explorers still had studded tires. Apparently March 31st was the last day a vehicle could have studded tires on in Oregon and Washington. As he pulled her over he asked for her driver’s license and she passed him her Irish license. (Lady Etain procrastinated the last 3 years about getting a state license for not wanting to take the driver’s test so fell back on her Irish one) The officer said “What is this piece of paper?” (Irish driver licenses are a pink piece of paper with a photo stuck on it) to which Lady Etain replied “My Irish driver’s license from Ireland”. He replied “Why don’t you have a state one?” and she said “We travel back and forth from the Americas to Ireland so we have both. Confused, he didn’t know how to write a ticket. He just issued them a warning and said if they were pulled over again for it, it would be costly in the several hundred dollar fine range. They thanked him and went on their way. Lady Etain requested Sir Thomas to do the driving.
Sir Thomas drove them into the Dalles where the adventurers were off to replenish their sundries, tools, and equipment. They fueled up at Safeway making use of their discount points, and had lunch at Burgerville. Unfortunately the stores in the Dalles didn’t have what they needed so they had to run back the Hood River to Walmart. Sir Thomas hated Walmart with a passion – the shopping experience, the concept, and the company.
Later that afternoon they went to the Dairy Queen in Hood River for 3 five buck lunches and to do wifi checking internet work, blogging, product fulfilment, and other errands. After a good day’s worth of work, plenty of play at the Dairy Queen for the Prince, they headed back across the bridge to their home in White Salmon. The rogues were docile and peace was the air at the retreat. They cooked up pork chops with applesauce topping on the grill, made baked potatoes and green beans for dinner. The night was spent watching Game of Thrones episodes.
