03.11.16: The Prince turns 3

Friday 11 March 2016
Ephrata / Coulee City, WA

Sir Thomas was awake at the crack of dawn as Lady Etain and the Prince remained asleep. He crept out of the motel room to meet up with the crew. He grabbed his survey pack with water bladder, trowel, compass, note board, and forms with rain gear, lunch, and winter coat. The crew met up, piled into the work trucks with the field dogs, and headed off to the field. Sir Thomas was excited as they would be surveying across an old stage stop they spied from the truck that was in today’s survey area. They hiked another 10 miles looking for cultural resources, and found a huge historic stage stop they had to record.

After a long day of surveying, Sir Thomas returned to the hotel to grab Lady Etain and the Prince for his birthday celebrations – he turned three years old today. They drove into Ephrates stopping by the Safeway for groceries and a birthday cake, as well as a bunch of toys for the Princes’ celebration. They grabbed dinner and watched Zootopia at the Lee Theater. It was a really cool historic theater with a pub-dining element added to it. The pizza parlor in the front of the Lee Theater was delicious and pretty affordable for a dinner served in theater. Exhausted and late at night, they returned to the hotel, had the ice cream cake, and Sir Thomas eagerly went to sleep as he had to be up at the crack of dawn.

Mileage: 60 miles
