12.11.25: The Nooksack River Rises

A photo/video timelapse music video of Day 1 of the Nooksack River 2025 (12/11/25) flood in West Sumas, Washington on 2nd street west of the tracks. From the start of the flood to its recession, the wildlife seeking dry ground, lumber pallets floating down the street, our building becoming an island, the US/Canada border closed, and the Coast Guard airlifting three neighbors across the street. 10.24.25: Halloween Vancouver | Cave of Bats/Dark 80s

The day's grind was getting busy as archaeological consultant work was piling high on my desk. I clocked out at 2 and crossed the border into Canada, luckily two blocks from my house so an easy commute. Credit Union for Canadian Cash, Tim Horton's drive-thru for a iced chai and sandwich, i found Highway 1 traffic through the rain and construction. Finally arriving to Vancouver with some on/off rain breaks, visiting my friend Lori and Krista who were making lanterns. We had hoped to do the fireworks at Spark, but the rain called it a big no. Food and conversations, they were off to Dark 80's and Cave of Bats big halloween dance party in a run down warehouse back entrance through construction as the building will be demolished some day soon. Great music and friends old and new, dancing and drinking, halloween sweets. Bernie dj'ed, got to see Shawna, Lori, Tania, Shannon, Stephanie, Ron, Joe, and many familiar faces. Dancing through the night. Afterwards Lori and I found Taco Kat downstairs for a last minute burrito before the bar was closed. Unmarked speakeasy noisy bar with two Irish lads bartending. Candlelit steps so we many not trip. It was a good night. Crashed on Lori's couch resting up for tomorrow's adventures to the big Sin City Halloween fetish night party.

Hot long day covering miles and acres, battling sun and wind as well as many historic trash scatters - the Survey was coming to an end.

We were off to the Air Force Academy to conduct our Archaeological Pedestrian survey, covering acres and miles for compliance. After work, I had a quick swim in the pool and rest in the hot tub, then walked next door to the Urban Tandoor Indian restaurant to meet my good friend Brigid for dinner.
