Sir Oisin and King Cian awoke early and energetic. They had tea and cereal with Sir Jay, Lady Bernadette, and Princess Elaine while planning out the day. After Elaine and Jay headed off to Gymnastics, Sir Oisin and King Cian went on to rummage through some Thrift snows in search of snow boots and pants for their evening’s adventures on Cypress Mountain.
The first Thrift store they hit was for generating income for kids and families, yet they did not carry “kid stuff”, so the volunteer clerk stated. They referred them next door to the Orphanage thrift. There they found the jackpot – one pair of snow pants that fit King Cian now for $4 CDN, and another pair for when he turns age 8 for another $4. They found some snow boots for $9 CDN. It was quite perfect.
Sir Oisin and the King headed off for a late morning/early afternoon swim at the Burnaby Recreation Center. They raced down the water slide, swam the lazy river, and hunted for sunken treasures.
Back over to Lady Bernadette’s and Sir Jay’s house, they hung out and chatted, preparing for their expedition in the snow. They then late afternoon trekked up Cypress Mountain into the snowy realms for a early evening of snow tubing down the slopes. As they arrived an hour and a half before their booked session (5 pm – 6:30 pm), they grabbed some hot chocolate in the warming hut. Unfortunately some young millennial skiers knocked over Oisin’s hot chocolate onto him, soaking his coat. Around 5 pm, they checked into the snow tube slope, got their pass, and lined up. Bernadette and Elaine walked up the slope for their first run, Sir Oisin and the King took the drag line lift. They were separated for a bit, then finally got into lines together as a group. Racing down the slopes, they all had a blast. They went down the group slope and tied their tubes together going down 2-3 times as a large mass of tubers. The last time they went down, King Cian slipped off his tube and held on for his life to the group’s tubes and was ready to quit after that run, holding his composure and discomfort but agreed for another final run after which he was done.
Afterwards they met up with Science Queen and Sir Jay for some gourmet Rocky Mountain flat bread pizza cuisine. King Cian was exhausted and grumpily slept in his seat at the crowded restaurant not responding to everyone as he didn’t want to be there. Dad ordered him the Mac n’ Cheese and a dessert with the kid’s meal, none of which he would eat except for a few bites of the Mac n’ Cheese in the car on the way back to Jay and Bernadette’s. Sir Jay treated the crew to dinner. Oisin was so very thankful. They had a great time catching up with Science Queen, Oisin having the Shrimp pesto flat bread pizza and sharing the King’s desert with the Queen. Kids exhausted, adults exhausted, it was an early evening after some tea and chat.
