Greenwood/Seattle, Washington
It was a whirlwind getting ready for our trip to Ireland. After packing up, I drove down to Greenwood/Seattle to pick Cian up from school; along the way, having to pull over for numerous “Teams” meetings to discuss Archaeological projects and report writing, trying to juggle getting ready for the international trip while finishing up projects. I pitstopped at Starbucks for Chai n’ Wifi while awaiting Cian’s early release from school for Christmas break.
I had another Teams meeting just 10 minutes before the school bell rang; Cian was aware I’d still be in the meeting while picking him up. He quietly walked with me to the call while I wrapped up the call. We had to hang out in the car for 20 minutes while finishing up. Then Cian and I caught up and headed off to the Oak Tree Cinema to see an afternoon show of “Wonka“. I had just seen it days ago as, for some reason, I didn’t think Cian was interested. I thought he wanted to see Godzilla. So thank the Goddess for MoviePass, as I got my ticket free and only paid for it. We hit IHOP for a late lunch beforehand, Cian grabbing the Wonka breakfast special. The movie was awesome, even at a 2nd showing. I loved it, and so did Cian.
We swung by Cian’s mom’s house, but she wasn’t yet back from her work’s Christmas party. Cian was hurt he couldn’t go. We were supposed to meet at 6, but she didn’t get back until nearly 9 pm. All the coffee shops and places we could hang out for cheap in Greenwood were already closed, odd for a Friday night. We did find a pricy Pizza joint to grab some dinner. Then after dinner, still no Mom, so we hung out on her back alleyway patio. Neighbors were concerned and asked us if we were ok. We told them we were just waiting for her to get home. I secured my car for its 2 weeks plus hibernation on Seattle streets while I was away in Europe. Worried that it was not going to be safe because, you know … it’s Seattle.
Finally once home, I wrapped up some client work, Cian and his mom packed, and I took a few hour nap in the upper loft. We were up by 4 am for our Lyft to the Seattle Airport.
