A fantasy flick of dragons and heroes in your typical magical evil vs bravely good, King Arthur twist dragon egg replaces sword in stone type of tale. Story of a young boy, living in a peon village under the powerful grip of an evil king, discovering a magical dragon egg in the woods. Only to discover his prophecy as the boy king to save his kingdom from the evil tyrant – with sorcery and swords, dragons and ogres, it’s all fantasy fun. It was lacking somewhere, I can’t find the words exactly where – because it was good and entertaining. Just lacked substance. Rating: 3 stars out of 5. Viewed 12/17/06.

http://www.tamaramovie.com/. Teenage geek girl falls for her teacher – he turns her down and it drives her crazy enough to do a love ritual to “make” him fall in love with her and to have the power of persuasion to make anyone do things for her. She chickens out when it calls for blood, but a high school prank from the jocks who want to get even with her accidentally kills her and spills her blood, making the spell complete. She returns from the dead to get revenge – but no longer an ugly duckling, but turn-everyone’s-head beautiful with a rage not to be toyed with. It’s B-rate, but I like the plot and the storyline. But definitely an at-home horror. Rating 4 stars out of 5. Viewed 1/2/07.

A hilarious comedy about an out-of-work dad whose inventions keep failing and is having a hard time finding a job. He takes a job at the local Natural History Museum as a night security guard. Little does he know how much history comes alive at night in the museum. Based on an ancient Egyptian artifact that brings the museum to life – he joins up with the museum collection to catch the thieves that will destroy the museum’s life and interests – It’s a battle of phenomenal historical proportions with humor to die laughing for. An excellent International film in Spanish with English subtitles about a little girl who goes with her pregnant mom to live with her new “stepfather” who is a ruthless and sadistic Captain of the Spanish Civil War. Set in a historic mill with a prehistoric Labyrinth in the backyard, Ofelia explores and meets a faun and some vicious fey, that put her to a test of 3 ordeals she must complete in order to achieve her place as Princess in the Otherworld. Balanced with the fight and the cruelty of war, Ofelia escapes into a dark and hideous underworld where she must battle her fears to achieve her tests. It’s an amazing tale of the worlds within and the treachery of deceit … bloody, gory, and definitely not for children. Artistic, fabulous imagery, and good special effects. A must-see! The remake of the 1986 cult thriller – but the tables have turned, instead of the boy being the target, this time it’s the girl. Many of the same re-made terrifying scenes that made the first film such an impact were brought to life with the newest cinematography. This time, a young couple heads cross-country for Spring Break only to somehow get coerced into giving a stranger a lift to the next town. What appears to be a good samaritan move, turns to bloody hell as the hitcher is a military ranger-like serial killer who is out to frame them for the mass deaths and to terrorize them in as many ways he could count possible. It doesn’t compare to the first movie in my opinion, but definitely a good see. Rating: 3.75 stars out of 5.

An Amazing epic tale of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. when Persia and its Immortal army tried to take Sparta. Based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel telling of a magical historical battle of 300 Spartans up against tens of thousands of ogre-like Immortals and beast slaves of the Persian God-King Xerxes. From defiance to adultery, from deceipt to ignorance, from pride to humility, the mythic race of Spartans, trained from birth as warriors, followed by their progeny, disregard Persia’s request to submit to the Persian world empire. With magic and sorcery, spears, and shields, a tremendous battle takes place between the Spartans and the Persians to prevent their entry into Greece. This is a must-see movie. Johnny Depp .. Sweeney Todd, Helena Bonham Carter … Mrs. Lovett, Alan Rickman … Judge Turpin, Timothy Spall … Beadle Bamford, Sacha Baron Cohen … Signor Adolfo Pirelli, Jamie Campbell Bower … Anthony Hope, Laura Michelle Kelly … Lucy / Beggar Woman, Jayne Wisener … Johanna, Ed Sanders … Toby, and many more.
Set in London, in dark Victorian England, the story of Sweeney Todd is brought to the screen by none other, but the fabulous artist Tim Burton. With his favorite actor of choice, Johnny Depp plays the wrongly imprisoned barber who sets out for revenge on the judge who imprisoned him. A tragic love story where lovers are separated, by greed and lust, and unspeakable evil. Returning he teams up with a cannibal, and off they are set to give mankind what they feel they deserve. A clean shave and a meat pie. Based on the story and the Broadway musical, this film is stunning with panoramic talent, excellent cinematography, and stunning visuals. The acting was excellent as well. I’m not the largest fan of musicals, but this one was enchanting. Rated 5 stars out of 5.
