Pearl River, Sleepy Hollow, and New Rochelle, New York
The adventurers awoke with intent to explore the haunting grounds of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. Late to depart slumber, the duo headed down for breakfast with the cousins, and then headed off on their mythical hunt towards Sleepy Hollow. Lady Etains’ cousin joined them on the adventure. Traffic along I287 and across the bridge was hair pulling, but once twists and turns led them right down into the small thriving village of Tarrytown then on into Sleepy Hollow. Wandering about they looked for clues to the Headless Horseman and eventually found their way down to the infamous bridge where the headless horseman is often depicted crossing holding the pumpkin headpiece. The adventurers made their way into the Sleepy Hollow Graveyard where they found the grave of the folklore’s writer Washington Irving.
Exploring the cemetery was astounding and tranquil with a blast of invigoration remembering the tale. There be two bridges believed to be the one in the tale. One in the heart of the cemetery and the other by the cemetery’s entrance. Monuments to the headless horseman splattered the town. Exploring some of Sleepy Hollow’s history enchanted the explorers.
Afterwards, the trio went off to New Rochelle, the homeland and first home of Sir Thomas Leaf – a haunted three story house and estate on Wykaggyl Terrace. Numerous tales and sightings of ghosts and paranormal activity molded his childhood into being the myth and legend chaser he is today. Young prince Cian however, upon approach of the house got very fussy and crying to the point that the explorers could not delve around his old stomping grounds. Back through the traffic with a chai/WiFi/ and breastfeeding break along the way they made their way back to Pearl River to meet up with family. A night out dining at a local Italian restaurant led to festivities and family chatter.
