Ephrata / Coulee City, Washington
After driving to Portland so Lady Etain could do her St. Patrick’s Day celebrating, the explorers were back on their way north bright and early speeding from White Salmon, through Hood River, The Dalles, and heading north from Maryhill. While in Hood River and the Dalles, the adventurers grabbed lunch at Burger King, groceries at Franz Bakery, supplies at the Dollar Tree and Walmart. They did some thrift store treasure hunting at the Salvation Army and Goodwill.
A long drive north from White Salmon, the weary adventurers were getting ready for the newest archaeology project in the Washington desert. They passed by a great place to see Mount Rainier and Mount Adams. It was to be a half week, short project survey, along BLM lands near Coulee Washington. Driving along I-84 to Biggs Junction, they headed north along Highway 97 through Goldendale on to I-82 through Yakima northward to Ellensburg. Turning East along the I-90 corridor, they made their way to George, and went north again on Highway 283 to Ephrata, through Soap Lake.
They booked the Knight’s Inn through Hotels.com to build up their free nights. The hotel was empty and the hotel concierge was distracted by her boyfriend and tv show in the motel room few doors down from the office. They checked in and called it a night as they had to be up early to get to Coulee City and meet the archaeological survey crew.
