03.07.16: Northern Exposure

Monday 7 March 2016
White Salmon, WA – Hood River, Oregon – Maryhill, WA

Early to rise, the adventurers were off on the start of their “Northern Exposure” wanderings to explore the history, archaeology, wilderness, and volcanic legacy in the North. They were fed up with their living situation and agreed to take a epic tour this summer as nomads, exploring new realms and areas where they wanted to settle. If Lady Etain found a library position, they would stop there. Otherwise, follow any work that cultural resource management firms offered in archaeological survey and excavations, then vend in-between the science work, and anything else Sir Thomas would weave together in photography, graphic arts, web development, blogging, and ghost writing. If anytime was left over, Sir Thomas hoped to complete publication of his books.

They bid farewell to the land-mate rogues hoping it would be the last sendoff as they were “done” with the madness involved with residing there. They left the Sienna van behind but pretty much cleared out all of their other possessions. It was very likely the farewell to the winter trap that entombed them for nearly 5 months.

They continued down the highway south through BZ Corner, through White Salmon, and across the toll bridge into Hood River. They drove over to the Postal Annex to check mail in their box and were surprised nothing was there. They have been on the route of going paperless for quite some time now so it shouldn’t be a wonder. They just thought it would have been nice to have received something from friends or family. They mailed off an order, hit the interstate and dropped off into the Dalles. They did some treasure hunting at the Goodwill, grabbed road trip snacks at Fred Meyers, some chai for energy at Starbucks, and got the Prince a toy for the trip.

As it was already getting dark, the adventures stopped for the night in the Dalles at the Motor Lodge.

Mileage: 38 miles
