Description
A natural cow (cattle) lower leg bone, called a cannon bone, most likely Bos taurus. It is long and straight with a notched upper end, and the identification as a cow metatarsal (hind leg) or metacarpal (front leg) is a best guess. The surface is weathered with a lighter, cream-white side and a darker, stained side, and it has natural cracks along the shaft. The lower end is broken and shows the spongy (cancellous) bone inside. The photos show both sides and close-ups of both ends.
