Tylocidaris clavigera

Cidaris clavigera was named by Mantell (1822). It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Tylocidaris. It is an extinct genus of echinoid that lived from the Early Cretaceous to the Eocene. Its remains have been found in Europe and North America. Tylocidaris was named by Pomel (1883) [Sepkoski’s age data: ]. Its type is Cidaris clavigera. It was assigned to Psychocidarinae by Gravesen (1993); and to Cidaroida by Sepkoski (2002). It was recombined as Tylocidaris clavigera by Pomel (1883).
