New York Faerie Festival, Harpursville, New York
Our adventuring family awoke early to go travel into the Faerie realm to interact with the magical fae. Coming out of their vardo was a still damp and wet morning, Lady Etain graced the delvers with a hearty Irish breakfast, from Irish fare she captured in an Irish grocery section while in Pearl River, New York. Very delicious though not so healthy. The muck and mud was accumulating in the upper parking lot, as cars were getting stuck and slipping around. A small car pulled in off the gravel, down over a hump into a small ditch in a boggy field to park. Sir Thomas Leaf just pondered that they would not be able to get out of that spot when they decide to leave. Oddly, out of the car stumbled 4 girls and 4 llamas. (see pics below ‘read more’) It was very intriguing.
After breakfast, Sir Thomas Leaf and prince Cian headed on into the Faerie realm while Lady Etain caught up on her beauty sleep. Trekking through the muck, father and son interacted with mermaids, dwarves, gnomes, trolls, sylphs, and goblins. Viewing the merchants works, they were intrigued by the arts and stumbled upon a booth of their friend Katie Lennon admiring her artwork. Music galore, faerie chai tea, and faerie parades entertained the pair for the morning. Sir Thomas Leaf bottle fed breast milk to young Cian along the river’s edge continually being photographed, ooh’ed and awe’d at by women passing by. He was confused as to why that was such a big deal to them. The Faerie Queen paraded through the streets and sat atop her throne, while trolls stalked a young river nymph and gazed at the mermaids with hungry eyes. Viking barbarians, poets, and muses strolling along, bards enchanting all that passed them. It turned out to be a gorgeous day. Back up to the vardo, Sir Thomas Leaf and prince Cian lured Lady Etain down into the realm, for more wanderings, crossing of the troll bridge, and watching of concerts. Prince Cian had his first ‘concert’ / larger band experience watching Telesma perform. It was a bit loud, so they didn’t stay too long, unsure of what decible level is ok for infant ears. While watching the show, a drunken wench who wandered in from the hills of the local human village nearby (who also bypassed the gates sneaking into the land from the river’s edge) came and forced herself into joining the trio while watching the show. She was a bit loud and obnoxious and highly intoxicated, but friendly and nice wanting to be Prince Cian’s friend. She was inquisitive about what all this faerie nonsense was about and heard rumors of this place having to come see it for herself. The trio took it as a clue to head back to the vardo after that and to watch over Prince Cian’s ears, even though it was low level concert music and outdoors. That evening, they had dinner and passed out early skipping and missing all the exciting wild activities down in the valley below which they could hear from afar outside their vardo’s window. Such is the life of parents and infant sleeping patterns.
