Description
A bag of about 16 natural bones that look like they came from a small deer-size animal, believed to be from the same animal because they were bagged together. Species is not confirmed: the size and shape look like a small deer such as a fawn, or possibly a goat or sheep, but this is only a best guess and the species is not identified. The bones are aged and weathered, in cream, tan and brown tones with natural cracks, staining and small chips.
What is in the bag (about 16 pieces; counted from the photos, so the exact number may vary by one):
- 2 flat, fan-shaped shoulder blades (scapulae)
- 2 pelvis halves with hip sockets, about 7 to 8 inches each (estimate)
- about 12 long leg bones: several large upper limb bones, shin or lower leg bones, and a few lighter long bones, about 6 to 8 inches each; the longest measures 8 x 1.5 x 1 inches
Features:
- Lot of about 16 aged natural bones, believed to be from one animal (bagged together)
- Species not confirmed (best guess: small deer, goat or sheep); natural variation in color, wear and condition
- Total weight 1 lb 0.8 oz (16.8 oz); bagged lot about 8.5 x 6 x 4 inches (zip bag)
- Photos show every piece laid out, with a tape measure for scale, plus a close-up of the long bones
