Description
A bag of 10 natural small mammal bones, believed to be from the same animal because they were bagged together. Species is not identified: size and shape suggest a small mammal such as a cat, raccoon, opossum, or small dog, but the species is not confirmed. The bones are aged and weathered, in cream, tan and brown tones with natural cracks, staining and small chips.
What is in the bag (10 pieces):
- 1 femur (thigh bone), about 7.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 inches and 1.4 oz, with a round ball head at one end and the paired rounded condyles at the other
- 1 long, thin, straight bone, about 7 inches long, probably a fibula or ulna
- 1 curved rib
- 7 vertebrae, a mix of thoracic and lumbar, with spines and processes of different shapes and sizes
