\nAnimal Tracks along the River @ Saveok Water Archaeological Site<\/strong>
\nSaveok Mill, Greenbottom, Truro, Cornwall, England<\/em><\/p>\n

During my June 2010 visit to the Saveok Water Archaeological Site<\/a> in the Area B3<\/a> were discovered very well-preserved (petrified?) hoof prints along where the river bank used to run on the site hundred to thousands of years ago. In this area were numerous types of animal prints superimposed on top of each other. Excavating in this area a peat deposit over a constant spring line that was never affected by the climate, presumably deposited clay over the tracks mixed with sand preserving the prints. The main hoof prints are believed to be bovine such as Auroch or primitive domestic cattle ranging around 17 cm in diameter.
