Security +
“Security Plus or Security+” is a Information Technology Certification that is operated by a non-profit trade association known as CompTIA – or the Computing Technology Industry Association – that in 1982 was created by the ABCD – Association of Better Computer Dealers, Inc. In the 1990’s CompTIA became a trusted authority and certification leader that competed with Microsoft’s MCSE programs – helping put out specialized and knowledgable work force set to improve the Information Technology field. They have become very famous for three notable training certifications – known as A+, Network+, and Security+. Security+ focuses on computer security topics such as access control, computer security, cryptography, encryption, and protecting networks. Security+ was started up in 2002 to address a flood of damage caused by hackers, crackers, spys, and industrial espionage. They updated their program in 2008 to address rising and evolving concerns. Today there are more than 45,000 people in the world who have been certified with Security+. They recommend that candidates for their program have at least 2 years of security related work experience and pass a hundred question multiple choice exam. This exam can be applied as an elective to the MCSA: Security and the MCSE: Microsoft Security Specialization.
