04.08.11: Denver to Los Angeles to Brisbane

I rose early at Sir Guy’s house, the weight of departure settling into the morning air. Sir Guy kindly prepared breakfast while I gathered my gear for the long journey ahead. My packs sat ready, each one carefully organized for the adventure that now stood before me. This was no longer preparation. This was a departure.

Sir Rockbear soon awoke and helped me load up for the drive to the Denver Air Dragon court. There was something ceremonial about the moment. The ride felt quiet but meaningful. We both knew this was more than a simple airport drop-off. This was the beginning of a true walkabout.

The week had already been emotionally heavy, filled with farewells, final preparations, and the slow unwinding of a life I had carefully built in Colorado. Yet there was still work to be done. Responsibilities remained, and I intended to finish them properly.

04.04.11: Joan of Arc and the Road Ahead

Monday, April 4, 2011, arrived with the quiet awareness that time was running short. I awoke knowing that these were among my final days working at the Curation Facility at Fort Carson. The routine that had grounded me for years was nearing its end. My morning felt both ordinary and symbolic. Chai. Preparing for work. Driving familiar roads that soon would no longer be part of my daily life.
