~ Belfast, Carrickfergus, Larne, Islandmagee, Portmuck, The Giant’s Ring, and the Ring of Gullion, Northern Ireland
The delvers awoke early as they headed off towards Northern Ireland on a quest to retrieve Sir Thomas Leaf’s faerie star ring that he had buried at Oisin’s Grave in order for it to be charged with knowledge of the ages. They headed up the M-1 from Dublin to Belfast onwards towards the Antrim coast passing through the Ring of Gullion and over to visit the ancient tromping grounds of Giants, known as The Giant’s Ring. Sir Thomas Leaf, Lady Etain, and Cian – the Prince of Endurance, fought the chilly damp winds down into the giant ring to the dolmen at its center to be given guidance by the giants. Sir Thomas Leaf and Princew Cian climbed down inside the dolmen to meditate on the quest they were on – soul seeking oracles and omens from the stones. Fairy trees and a giant ring surrounded them, and off they went to seek guidance from the sacred trees. From there they headed to Carrickfergus to see if they could spy the ghost of the king of Fergus Mor. Onwards along the Antrim coast, they made their way to Portmuck and Islandmagee in search of the souls of the Islandmagee witches who possessed and tormented a young girl and being the last witches tried in Ireland. Hunting for the fabled fraudulent Portmuck mermaid led to no sightings other than the omnipotence of a former smuggler’s cove. They stopped for the night in Larne at a local hostel, grabbing dinner at Checker’s Wine Bar. It was a long day and night as they turned in by midnight to the sounds of hailing winds or banshees echoing in the window sill.
