Ruidoso to Lincoln to Roswell, New Mexico
Our well rested explorers met together down at the Inn of the Mountain Gods breakfast buffet to fuel up for their journey towards the land of aliens. They hustled to get their bags together as they caravan-ed out in the round pull through circling the large statues of kachina dancers. They then proceeded through Ruidoso towards Fox Cave. Docteur Mangor and Lady Angela dropped off into Fox Cave while Sir Thomas Leaf, prince Cian, Lady Etain, and Sir Rob Wildwood proceeded on towards the Wild West still occupied ghost town of Lincoln – the haunting grounds of Billy the Kid. They pulled into the visitor center, parked for the morning and set off to explore the museum learning about Feather cave, Billy the Kid, and went onwards to explore the quite abandoned town. Winter season has begun and just about everything was closed. They wandered around town, explored the old fortifications, and made their way back to their vardo Explorer where they stopped for a brief snack. While trying to cut open a young coconut, Sir Thomas Leaf almost cut off his finger with his hunting knife. Bandaged up thanks to Sir Rob Wildwood having the proper bandages, they made their way east to Roswell. En rout, they passed one of Sir Thomas Leaf’s old haunting grounds – where he once threw high school parties deep into the bowels of the earth. The abandoned missile silos that once protected the air force base of Roswell where the alien spacecraft and bodies were once held. They weren’t able to sneak into the missile silos this time, as this one was purchased by someone and turned into some fancy Doomsday prepper home .. .and had the missile launch doors open for some airing out, and had painted the old grey closet Sir Thomas Leaf and his friends once blew open with M-80’s, now colored a bright white. No trespassing signs warned them of entering without permission. So onwards they drove to Roswell to meet up with Docteur Mangor, prince Winter, and Lady Angela.

Roswell, Sir Thomas Leaf and Docteur Mangor’s old home town, changed quite a bit. Many of their old haunts were gone, demolished as empty lots or new buildings, everything commercialized, or UN-used places. Down on Main Street, the team met back up in front of the International UFO museum. They gawked and perused several of the UFO shops for photo moments with aliens, then made their way back to their vardos driving off on the dusty main street to Pepper’s Grill for lunch. Filled up, they headed off to Bottomless Lakes State Park with a dip in the chilling waters as their intent, but with a winter snow storm on the horizon, tumbleweeds crossing the highway, it was too cold to swim. As darkness fell, the team explored the rocks and overlooks of the giant sinkholes known as “Bottomless Lakes State Park“. Since the winter storm was rapidly approaching, the adventurers decided to press onwards north to Santa Fe. Sir Thomas Leaf gathered up some white sage to make smudge sticks with and they proceeded with their journey. Too dark to visit the UFO Crash site, they made their way up to Clines Corner just as it was about to close for restrooms and baby change stations. Finally back on the road, hitting Historic Route 66, they stayed at the Silver Saddle Motel for a good night’s rest.
