Columbia, South Carolina
The explorers Sir Thomas Leaf, Lady Etain, and Cian – the Prince of Endurance could sense a opening of transition was before them, although they did not know where the urge to move was going to take them. The adventurers was itchy with wanderlust, knowing very well they weren’t happy in Columbia, South Carolina. The south, nicknamed “the Bible Belt”, wasn’t really their cup of tea. Coming directly from Ireland to assist Sir Thomas Leaf’s mom, Queen Patricia, when the family thought Queen Patricia was ill with Alzheimer’s was a transition in of itself for the explorers. But then just as the delvers packed up to move across the Great Pond, Sir Thomas Leaf and Lady Etain discover that they were pregnant, while tromping from Ireland to Scotland, with a pit stop in Iceland, and on to America was a lot to take in. They were excited as well as nervous. Added to that, it turned out that Queen Patricia didn’t have Alzheimer’s but rather a Urinary Tract Infection and severe Dehydration causing memory loss which was just the first domino to flop down for a fall-effect of finding out Sir Thomas Leaf’s 83 year old mother had Diabetes and Leukemia as well. Just under 2 months later, she passed away. It was a shock to their system. During her care, Sir Thomas Leaf took a position with the Government creating i-pad tutorials and lesson plans to train soldiers. After Queen Patricia’s death, it really wasn’t safe to air travel back to Ireland to have their birthing of Prince Cian, not to mention the Irish economy was tanked and Sir Thomas Leaf now had a good job. While backwards-educated physicians and maternity care planted the seed that the South was not where they wanted to remain, the explorers waited until their young son was healthy and clear for travel or a move and able to live up to his name as the Prince of Endurance. Sir Thomas Leaf really liked his job and crew, but he and Lady Etain were not happy with the Southern culture, the racism that still runs strong in those parts, close-mindedness, and the conservative nature of the area. In addition, the humidity that the summer would bring, the lack of change of seasons, the bugs, the poverty, and the slow nature of progress made them very antsy to relocate. The question of course was “where?” The adventurers bought a cheap used RV to use as their vardo for $3,000. It appeared in great shape and only 100,000 miles on the engine. The trio were contemplating about taking a walkabout across the country, headed north to New England, across the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest. They knew the Pacific Northwest was a place they would be happy as they both had lived in British Columbia, Sir Thomas Leaf in Washington and Oregon and Lady Etain having visited Washington. So the trek was planned. To fund the journey was to re-connect their team businesses and begin work for The Tree Leaves Oracle, Pirate Relief, Technogypsie Productions, and Sir Thomas Leaf’s own pet project Leaf McGowan Enterprises under which he would be publishing several books.

After a good hard days work, Sir Thomas Leaf returned home to pack up the RV with merchandise they would be selling at Lothlorien Nature Sanctuary‘s Elf Fest 2013. Working full time left little time to plan and pack, so he just decided to use this as a learning curve for re-establishing the vending trade route. The adventurers were excited to explore the Lothlorien Nature Sanctuary and re-connect with the Elf folks living there in that community. The community was a bit of an inspiration for Sir Thomas Leaf back in the 80’s and 90’s when some of his fondest adventures took place there. A very late night was had, RV packed up, and a short night’s sleep with vivid dreams of excitement for the new adventure awaiting.
